Poultry And Livestock Absolutely Safe From COVID-19

Professor Nasim Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, resolutely refused to regard it as absolutely false and fabricated the news circulating on social media that poultry products are a novel coronavirus The source of the virus.
The deputy principal told such social media reports that poultry, poultry products, and other livestock products are absolutely safe and have no connection with the coronavirus.

Professor Tahir Yaqub, head of the UVAS Corona Center, said that according to scientific evidence around the world, poultry is neither affected nor the source or carrier of the virus that causes COVID-19. He said that the poultry industry is providing livelihoods for more than 1.5 million people in the country. This false propaganda against poultry is a systematic effort by pathological thinkers, causing millions of lives to be damaged and taking away the most from the public. Professor DrAthar Mahmud, the chairman of the livestock production department, also rejected the claims about the coronavirus in poultry and its relationship with COVID-19. These reports are baseless and fabricated. He said that poultry meat is a source of high-quality protein and is cheap.
The vice-chancellor said that UVAS had earlier launched an awareness campaign on the coronavirus, and the university’s technical experts addressed common issues related to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, epidemiology, immunology, biosafety and the role of food.

He said that since the COVID-19 pandemic, UVAS has been refuting false news about veterinary issues and has done the same. He urged people to find facts in these UVAS promotional videos obtained on the Internet.

Professor Nasim said that UVAS management is actively carrying out its own work to combat COVID-19. The vice-principal said: “UVAS’s new BSL-3 laboratory has been in use since April 7, 2020. So far, more than 7,000 suspected human samples of COVID-19 have been tested in cooperation with the Punjab Ministry of Health.” The team is not only engaged in COVID-19 -19 diagnosis, and its experts are still evaluating personnel protection equipment used to produce biosafety and high-quality PPE.

He urged the people not to believe in this kind of propaganda, to follow the facts, and to stay safe in this severe situation.
