Pakistan has joined the league of some of the world’s top countries by providing students with the certification of the Microsoft home certification platform. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) reached an agreement with Microsoft to provide this certificate free of charge to the first 2000 students who enrolled in the opportunity. This is not only an important step to bridge the gap between education and employability, but also to help students gain professional skills while having more time during this COVID period.
In the past decade, Microsoft and HEC have been collaborating in a strategic partnership to promote the use of information technology in higher education. The partnership covers all public and private universities in the country, and has multiple programs aimed at improving the level of youth and providing them with multiple platforms that can be used to help them enhance their capabilities and showcase their technologies on a global scale potential.
Under this strategic partnership, a certification platform has been launched to provide students with a prescribed course roadmap, which is a blueprint for the development and certification of technical skills. Specific areas of research include productivity, computer science, data science and IT infrastructure. The provided MTA (Microsoft Technical Assistant) and MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certifications provide useful credentials for individuals seeking to verify their skills and promote their professional development.
The exams covered include all productivity tools under Office 365, as well as technology-intensive certification pathways, such as Cloud Fundamental courses covering Azure basics, Dynamics 365 basics, and Microsoft 365 basics.
Many students find that during the long COVID-19 break, they have more time on their hands, which can provide them with space beyond theoretical knowledge and allow them to focus on developing marketable skills.
In order to support such students, HEC plans to introduce the “Family Platform Certification” program for students across Pakistan. Under this initiative, the first 2,000 students registered for certification will receive free certification products when they select available MOS or MTA products. Students can easily choose their favorite technical field, not only can learn in-depth tutorials and self-study videos at home, but also can take the exam online in the comfort of home.
Commenting on the relationship between HEC and Microsoft, Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman of HEC, said,
In the past few years, digital transformation has been at the forefront of every industry, as has education. In cooperation with Microsoft, HEC can introduce a set of tools and technology products that can help build a technology-rich culture in higher education. Enabling students to master more advanced skills can not only help their career development but also enhance the technological potential of Pakistan’s industry and academia.
Microsoft has partnered with the Pearson VUE business Certiport to provide the program for universities under the leadership of HEC. In order to ensure that end-users get the best exam experience without experiencing any lag or other downtime, Azure is the cloud platform of choice for hosting IaaS resources to provide a complete experience. The platform has been used to provide more than 120,000 exams worldwide and has been well received by teachers and students.
Azure is also the cloud platform chosen by many universities across the country for backup and disaster recovery strategies, hosting the university’s web services, and as a driver using tools such as Azure Security Center and Sentinel to implement the university’s network security strategy. Microsoft’s cloud-native SIEM.
National Education Director Microsoft-Pakistan; Mr. Jibran Jamshad (Jibran Jamshad) said: “Today’s workplace needs to adapt to frequent technological changes and problem-solving strategies. You can learn from the Microsoft certification program. These skills allow you to demonstrate your flexibility to current and potential employers. These credentials show that you can use various strategies to more effectively solve problems and address consumer and stakeholder concerns.”
