HEC Issues NOC To AIOU For Offering PhD In Library, Information Sciences


Online Workshops For Postgraduate Begin From Monday

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Department of Library and Information Science (LIS) of Allama Iqbal Open University to provide doctoral programs.

According to a press release on Friday, the Department of Library and Information Science at Alama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will offer a PhD program in the spring semester of 2021 after obtaining the NOC qualification.

In his comments, Dr. Pervaiz Ahmad, head of the LIS department, said that the Alama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has achieved another milestone in the emerging field of library and information science.

He also thanked AIOU Vice President Professor Zia Ul-Qayyum for his continuous support throughout the process.

He believes that this will provide an excellent opportunity for high-quality education for candidates interested in this field across the country.

He said that the department also recently released a research journal, which is a HEC Y-recognized journal and has played an effective role in promoting and strengthening the research culture in the field of library and information science.

In addition, HEC is expected to issue a NOC to the English Department of the university in the near future to launch its M Phil English and PhD (Linguistics) courses.

The above-mentioned courses have been approved by all statutory bodies of the university, and the application of NOC is in the final stage of the HEC approval process.
