Building Communities Through Technological Intervention

The Grand Finale Award and Award Ceremony (FICS 2020) for the search for innovative and creative solutions for society is a platform to promote social entrepreneurship and was held at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) on Tuesday. In view of the situation caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, we have taken special measures to conduct this event.

The overall champion of FICS 20 is the Cyber​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​k data Cyber ​​Guard can monitor and protect the theft and leakage of sensitive or static organizational data. The winning team received a cash prize of 100,000 PKR/- sponsored by the Army Welfare Foundation (AWT).

In addition, the top 3 and 3 SGD special category winners will receive a cash prize of PKR 20,000/-. A total of 31 finalist teams of FICS’20 used the online mode to show prototypes of their technology-based innovative solutions to the four judges of the finals. The winning team also received 6 months of free incubation space at TechOne-NUST Incubation Center.

In addition to the Prototype Development Fund (PDF) sponsored by the National Radiocommunication Corporation (NRTC), FICS is fortunate to receive sponsorships from 7 SDG categories from different industries. FICS’ 20 sponsors and partners include NRTC, AWT, Reenergia, Arkhitech, Alfoze Technologies Pvt Ltd and Graana.

The Chief of Staff and the President of the National University of Science and Technology, His Excellency Lieutenant General Navid Zaman (returning to the university) emphasized in the audience’s speech that technical intervention is needed to improve the living standards, especially the living standards of vulnerable groups.

He praised the NUST students who came up with outstanding ideas and praised the winners and the second place for participating in the strict three-stage competition.

He also thanked the faculty supervisors and administrators of Northdaq University and College for their efforts under continuous guidance and supervision; NUST alumni provided firm support under the guidance of students and industry partners, which made FICS for many years A real success was achieved. He also congratulated the FICS management for executing the game while strictly following the SOP after the current pandemic.
